Envisioning Transformation: Dr. Marj Barlow

Envisioning Transformation: Dr. Marj Barlow

“The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are. (Joseph Campbell) When we began “Envisioning Transformation” it seemed people were uncomfortable with the idea that the future is what we make it, largely-speaking. So we decided to ask two religiously-centered, world-bettering Elders to share about their transformative lives in and outside Religion and lessons we can apply. Here is Marj Barlow, PhD, corporate change-making legend.

Dr. Marj Barlow was born in 1929 in rural West Texas, raised a farmer and Fundamentalist Baptist during the Dust Bowl and World War II eras. She went on to co-lead the world’s first, industrial-scale, net-zero sustainability mission at a global-scale corporation, Interface Carpets, 60+ years later. Some of that legacy is summarized here. In between, and all along the way, Dr. Barlow has helped 1,000s of people as a pioneering therapist and female empowerment leader.

A life-long Christian, truth seeker, care provider, mother, wife, author and more, Marj knows transformation. In Part 1 of these interviews she recounts her life journey, "the first 45 years." In Part 2, she shares on how she helped build the Feminist community in the United States, her views on biosphere care today, and her compass of joy. Dr. Barlow is interviewed by AllCreation editor, Chris Searles.

“I prefer to be curious, rather than certain.”

Quotes

I prefer to be curious, rather than certain. I think that has led me to a lot of diversity. There’s not just one way.

Studying Happiness has helped me have a sense of the value of our choice-making.

We’re not done yet. We’re still evolving.

Each human being is unique and very significant.

Each little child is to be unfolded, not molded.
