Called to CARE #4: Scott Sabin
In this episode of Called to CARE, Scott Sabin (ceo, PlantWithPurpose.org) is interviewed by globally-influential musician/ author/ pastor, Reverend Jimi Calhoun, and AllCreation executive editor, Chris Searles. They talk about care-based Mission work, truly Sustainable Development, learning from "the Poor", and how awesome humanity's potential really is.
In the last 30 years, probably no other American has had a greater effect on helping the world's most isolated and under-resourced people rise out of poverty through large-scale, ecological solutions rooted in Christianity, than Scott Sabin.
Scott is ceo of “Plant With Purpose,” a Christian, sustainable development organization operating in nine countries in the Global South.
When Scott began as leader they had 80 participants. Today:
"We're directly serving about 500,000 people and having a measurable impact on just over 1,000,000."
(Scott Sabin)
How are they helping so many people?
Scott and Plant With Purpose are solving climate change and poverty with human and environmental care, which begins with establishing and reinvigorating life-giving ecosystems, and connecting that with literal food and water and income and purpose, and identity, and community potential.
Their solution integrates: reforestation, regenerative agriculture, watershed protection, church partners, purpose groups, savings cooperatives, spiritual communities, female empowerment, and more to revitalize a life-giving biosphere, which feeds people, stabilizes climate, builds community, establishes local economies, and celebrates working together.

Under Scott's leadership Plant With Purpose's rural partners have now planted nearly 62 million trees, created a $12 million investment fund they manage, and are making "about an 18 to 20% return on their investments."
