Indigenous Peoples' Musics

The world has roughly 6,000 living languages today. Once one accounts for all of the largest languages (Mandarin, English, Persian, etc.), the remaining languages belong almost entirely to the world's indigenous peoples. I call indigenous peoples "the sustainable peoples." Their non materialist cosmologies and sense of membership in- and respect for- the web of life has empowered some native communities to coexist with the Creation for tens of thousands of years. (See Papua New Guinea below.) We can learn from these people, not only in terms of reconnecting to the Creation, but also in terms of environmental knowledge, relationships, and care.
